What you can enter
- An email address received from a seller, a “customer service” or a stranger.
- A phone number that called or texted you.
What is looked at
- The known reputation of the address or number.
- Reports from other users.
- Community reviews.
- Known signals, such as a domain that imitates a brand or a number already associated with abusive cold calling.
What to keep in mind
An address or number that has never been reported isn't necessarily safe: it may simply be new. The analysis tells you the level of information available, and doesn't replace the right habit: never give a code received by text, a password or banking details to a contact you didn't initiate.
Report to protect others
From the result, you can report an address or a number. Every report helps the next users. In France, you can also forward a suspicious text to 33700, report an email on Signal Spam and use the Pharos platform for a scam.
How it works, in three steps
- You enter the email or number to check.
- Scan Raccoon gathers known reputation, reports and reviews.
- You decide whether to reply, call back or ignore it, with the facts in hand.
Frequently asked questions
Can Scan Raccoon identify the owner of a number?
No. It doesn't try to identify a person: it indicates what's known about the reputation of a number or an address, based on reports and the community.
What should I do if the number has already been reported?
Don't call back, don't reply, and don't click any link. Keep a screenshot of the message and report it to the official platforms.
Does my number appear publicly?
There is no public page listing the numbers or addresses you check.
